Surrender as a path to freedom
My mission is to help you find freedom in surrender. I would like to assist you in breaking the cycle of emotional suffering and yearning for control, replacing self-judgment with compassion—for yourself and for the world around you—to create a life defined by your values rather than your fears.
Services
In-Office and Virtual Telehealth Services are available.
Adult Psychotherapy
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Self-Compassion training, and Mindfulness. The more we avoid emotional pain, the stronger it gets. I help you break that cycle. Together, we will focus on what you want out of your life—not on self-punishment—to build a life that feels authentic, content, and free.
Hypnotherapy
Too busy for therapy? I can offer 18-30-minute intensive, solution-focused sessions around the lunch hour for those who cannot get away from the office.
Christianity-Focused Psychotherapy
Do you want to incorporate your religious beliefs into therapy? Psychotherapy is a great place to bring your religious and spiritual beliefs and traditions to aid in coping with stressors.
Brief Therapy for Busy People
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses guided relaxation, intense concentration, and focused attention to achieve a heightened state of awareness or focus. In this naturally occurring state, you can turn your attention inward to utilize your mind’s resources to make positive changes.

About Dr. Cantrell
I bring a unique blend of "real world" leadership and personal resilience to our sessions. My background includes:
Quality Training: A doctoral degree in psychology with an internship in the US Air Force and subsequent advanced training in a number of therapies, including CBT, ACT and hypnotherapy.
Personal Resilience: A journey through a major health crisis that taught me the vital difference between pain (which is inevitable) and suffering (which we create by resisting reality). It also taught me how to surrender what I cannot control.
Humor and Empathy: I understand the daily struggle of balancing work, family, and the internal pressure. I spent years in the US Air Force, NC state policy, and corporate healthcare, but kept a sense of humor to lighten stressful times.
